Nota biográfica:
João Ribeiro Mendes currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal. He is an Integrated Researcher at CEHUM (Center for Humanistic Studies), where he participates in the Luso-Asian Studies Group, reflecting his sustained engagement with cross-cultural philosophy. Additionally, he serves as a Collaborating Researcher at CEGOT (Centre of Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning) at the University of Coimbra (Group 1: Nature and Environmental Dynamics) and at the Centre of Global Studies (CEG) at Universidade Aberta (Group 1 – Anthropocene, Sustainability and Development). He is also President of the Institute for Anthropocene Studies (INfAST). His research spans Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Technology, and Anthropocene Studies, with a dedicated focus on Japanese and Eastern philosophical traditions and their relevance to contemporary debates on technology, ethics, and environmental thought. He is the author of Ian Hacking's Experimental Realism (2015), co-editor of two volumes on Philosophy of Technology (Friedrich Dessauer's Philosophy of Technology (2018) and Liquid Technophilosophy (2019), and co-editor of four books on Anthropocene Studies (2019, 2022, 2023, 2025). He has published extensively in journals and edited collections and serves as co-editor of Anthropocenica: Journal of Anthropocene Studies and Ecocriticism.
