Short bionote:
I am Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Minho, where I hold the chairs in Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Technology. Alongside my academic role in Portugal, I have taught and lectured internationally – including in China, Japan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Peru, Poland, and Turkey – reflecting an ongoing commitment to global philosophical dialogue. As President of the Institute for Anthropocene Studies and co-editor of Anthropocenica: Journal of Anthropocene Studies and Ecocriticism, I contribute actively to shaping contemporary discourse on the Anthropocene. I am a member of several learned societies, including the Society for Philosophy of Science in Practice, the Sociedade Portuguesa de Filosofia, the Sociedad Interuniversitaria de Filosofía (Spain), and the Sociedade de Filosofia da Eurorregião Galiza–Norte de Portugal. My research focuses on the Philosophy of Science, the Philosophy of Technology, and Anthropocene Studies, with particular expertise in the Philosophy of Technology within the engineering tradition. I critically examine the nature, structure, and dynamics of the Technosphere, and since 2018, have extended my work to address the philosophical implications of the Anthropocene. My publications include monographs, edited collections, peer-reviewed articles, and book chapters in internationally recognized academic outlets.
